Stalbridge Hall Project to fit solar pv system with battery storage and solar boost for hot water
Stalbridge Hall is 50 years old this year, and like all other older buildings needs to be updated, refurbished and maintained.
As the biggest community centre in the town, we have responsibility to reduce the Halls carbon footprint. With the help of funding from Low Carbon Dorset as part of the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, and a £3,800 grant from Stalbridge Town Council, 30 solar panels will be fitted on the 31st July and will save over 2.96 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The total cost of the project is £12,000 with the hall finding £5,000, plus the cost of planning permission at £1,500 (as the hall is in a conservation area). We also had to have a Bat survey at a cost of £360.
There will be a battery storage meter installed in the Hall. The energy generated will also heat the hot water cylinder in the Community Hall.
